Visible from the cottage, nestling on the
shores of Loch Bay, is the historic village of Stein (above). Originally conceived in the eighteenth century as a model fishing village, Stein
today is home to the oldest inn on Skye (the Stein
Inn).
And, with craftspeople such as the Skyeskyns,
Scotland’s only traditional sheepskin tannery and showroom, Shilasdair
Yarns, Halistra Pottery and
Dunhallin Crafts, your days on Waternish can be filled with discovery of rare skills.
And, the Auld Alliance Cottage is ideally situated for exploring
slightly further afield to places such as Dunvegan
Castle, home of the chieftain of the Clan MacLeod, the fascinating Edinbane
Pottery, the magnificent
Cuillin Mountains (below) or even for a day trip to the Outer Hebrides by ferry sailing
from Uig.
Why not see Skye from the horseback with the nearby Skye
Riding Centre - also fully qualified for Riding for the Disabled?
Whatever your fancy, or indeed just
for a quiet, relaxing break in an unspoilt location, a stay at the Auld
Alliance Cottage will provide you with holiday memories to treasure ...
